Masterclass: Manifest the writer you want to be
30th January, 6.30pm GMT | Free masterclass for paid subscribers
Manifestation. It’s one of those words that seems to pop up everywhere these days, especially in creative spaces. You’ve probably heard people talk about it, maybe even tried it yourself, but what does it really mean? And, more importantly, how can it help you as a writer?
The word "manifestation" used to make me cringe, and in some ways, it still does. But over the past few months, I've been exploring a different type of meaning behind this word, one that it's not about crystals and candles, and it's more about our intent to achieve something great.
I’ve discovered a manifestation formula that works for me: setting my vision + untangling the vision from unhelpful beliefs and gremlins + intention + action.
So, we hopefully agree that manifestation is more than just thinking happy thoughts and hoping the universe will deliver your dreams. It’s about aligning your energy – your thoughts, beliefs, and actions – with the things you want to create. It’s about realising that the work you put into something, both internally and externally, has a direct impact on what you can achieve. And if you’re a writer, manifestation can shift the way you approach your creative journey.
If you want to see how we can explore together that process of intention and goal setting for your writing projects, join me online on the 30th of January, at 6.30pm GMT for a relaxed, and hopefully really enjoyable workshop on manifesting the writer you want to be. So, let’s talk about how manifestation slash intention really works, why it’s essential for your writing practice, and how you can start using it to turn your creative dreams into reality.
What Is manifestation really?
At its core, manifestation is about intention and alignment. It’s the act of focusing your energy on what you want, visualising it, and taking steps to make it happen. That last part on taking actions is really important. It’s not about passively waiting for things to fall into your lap. It’s about shifting your mindset and your actions so that everything around you begins to reflect your desires.
If you’re constantly thinking “I’m not a real writer” or “I’ll never finish this novel,” those beliefs will block your progress. But if you actively choose to believe “I am a writer” and “I am capable of achieving my creative goals,” you start creating the space to bring those things into your life.
How manifestation can help you as a writer
As writers, we often spend so much time worrying about our work that it’s easy to forget the power of belief. Manifestation helps you reframe limiting thoughts, making space for new possibilities. Instead of thinking “I’ll never finish this book,” you can replace that with “I am capable of completing this project, one step at a time.”
It’s not about wishful thinking – it’s about taking aligned action. Manifestation helps you get clear on your goals, so you can focus on the steps that will get you there.
Whether it’s finishing a novel, building a daily writing habit, or publishing your first short story, manifestation helps you break down your goals into clear, actionable steps.

Manifestation in action: how to start
To get you started, here’s a simple exercise: Take a moment to get clear on one of your writing goals. It could be anything from finishing a chapter to writing every day for a week. Write it down. Now, ask yourself: How would it feel to achieve this? What small action can you take today to move one step closer? The key is to begin – and trust that every step you take will move you toward manifesting your writing dreams.
Why manifestation works for writers
Manifestation isn’t about magical thinking; it’s about aligning your thoughts, actions, and energy with what you truly want. As a writer, this alignment helps break down mental barriers, focus your energy, and start making consistent progress on your goals. It’s about creating the space for your creative work to flow.
