121 Mentoring

Need guidance on a writing project, or advice to develop further your creative practice? Whether you’re at the start of a new idea, grappling with a creative block, or simply looking for a fresh perspective, my one-to-one mentoring sessions are all about helping you grow into the writer you want to be. Think of it as a conversation built around your questions, goals, and creative challenges—a space to dive into your process, build confidence, and navigate the ups and downs of the writing journey.

This isn’t an editing service; instead, it’s an inspiring, no-judgment zone where we can focus on your bigger picture. Maybe that means brainstorming approaches to a tricky plotline, developing stronger creative habits, or even talking through how to get your work out there. It’s about giving you the tools, insights, and direction to keep moving forward, whatever “forward” looks like for you.

Right now, I can offer mentoring sessions to writers of fiction, creative non-fiction, building your brand as a writer, and developing your creative practice, and I’m especially interested in mentoring writers traditionally underrepresented in the publishing industry.

Why should you consider working with me

The image shows a woman sitting at a wooden table outdoors. She is wearing a green knitted sweater and large dark sunglasses. Her long, light brown hair is down, and she is resting her chin on her left hand. In her right hand, she is holding a pen over an open notebook with some writing on it. The background features a green wooden wall and a window with white frames. The woman appears to be in a thoughtful or contemplative pose.

I’m a writer, creative writing mentor and workshop facilitator, and have an extensive background in marketing, content and communications, working for charities and high-profile brands.

My debut novel Four Minutes was originally published in Bulgaria (Janet 45, 2017) where the book received the most prestigious Bulgarian prize for emerging literature and was shortlisted for several other national awards. The International Booker Prize winner Georgi Gospodinov described it as “a novel about people on the margins of society, […] that grabs you by the throat, a poignant novel”. It has since been translated into English, German and Polish. My second novel Arrival, written in English, was published by The Indigo Press, UK (2022) and is due to be published in Bulgaria.

I’ve been invited to speak at literary events and festivals such as Aye Write and the Festival of European Debut Novelists. My short fiction, non-fiction and critique have appeared in literary journals and anthologies, such as Words Without Borders, Fence, Psyche, Asymptote, Lunate, Review31 and Granta.
